Dance! - Mostly, it is...

02:56 am - Dance!
The Chimera Project is a group and choreographer (Malgorzata Nowacka) whose work I've been following for some years now, and I'm delighted to see that the first work of theirs I saw (in workshop form at the Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival) is now ready for its premiere (The Hidden Spot April 3-5 at the Harbourfront Centre).
At the time I saw it, it was "Drawing the Line or The Hidden Spot". The music was dense and loud, the dancers were precise, energetic and powerful, the choreography was intense, focused and did I mention intense. I was so impressed that since then, mention of their name in association with a production is enough to ensure my interest. Fortunately, they are Toronto based, so I can actually go to most of the things they do.
This is storytelling at a level that I adore.
I'm going to buy tickets this Tuesday. witchnyn, kattas, Allison, dawkins, antheiasilva? If you're interested and would like me to pick one up for you too, give me a call or an email.
Oh and a P.S.: I'm also going to the U of T Drama Festival productions this Thursday and Saturday at Hart House. A Fringe acquaintance, Linda Davies, is playing a lawyer advocating for a soul in Purgatory. I'll be going down early, so if you'd like to join me before to chat, I'd love to see you.
