Fourth Street Fantasy Convention - Mostly, it is...

03:35 am - Fourth Street Fantasy Convention
Huh. So when the new Fourth Street Fantasy Convention poster went up, I saw that Patricia C. Wrede (whose Dealing With Dragons is a favourite of mine) was now on the list of author guests. I'd already wanted to go, mostly to see mrissa and timprov again and meet markgritter as well as their friends but knowing that I'd see at least a few of them at farthingparty, that I dislike travel in general, and am to put it mildly, put off by what I've read of the States' (and Canada's) security apparatus I hadn't really taken that urge too seriously. Somewhere along the line the combination of the greater exposure I've been having with the concept of authors as being people who one can actually converse with, and/or observe conversing with each other in an enjoyable fashion (in large part starting with the bookstore and growing through lj, seeing more of what various people have been writing about Fourth Street, and noting the increasing numbers of people who I'd be interested to see who I probably wouldn't get to otherwise, I fell into wanting to go in a less theoretical fashion.
To my happy surprise, over the weekend, my father, despite his misgivings, gave me permission to go (my mother having conditionally given it earlier). So, providing that I can manage the necessary steps in time, I'm going to attend. ^_^
That being the case, now would be as good a time as any to give notice that if people I know who are going to be there or are here would like someone here or there to have something delivered to the other, I'm volunteering to expand the range of possible ways for that to occur as I like to be useful. Please get in touch sooner rather than later if possible though.
